Geolive: Place and Pipelines

We want you to add your thoughts, comments, and photographs on what is happening in your area concerning the Northern Gateway Pipeline project. Below is an overview of how to contribute your voice to the Place and Pipelines geoweb project:

  • Create an account,
  • Place a new marker on a location that has some special meaning,
  • Contribute a photograph or some text about this place, or both!

Click on the Login option at the top right corner of the browser window. The drop-down shown on the left will appear. You can either sign-in with an existing Facebook or Google account, or use the option at the bottom to create a unique Geolive account for this website.

If you already have an account on this site, simply enter your username and password and log in.

Once you have logged in, three new icons will appear on the right side of the map window. The top one with the four arrows toggles the full-window mode for the map.  Clicking on it will cause the map to fill your browser window. Clicking on the house icon will re-center the map to your current location. The third icon allows you to place your own markers on the map. Click on this icon and drag it to a relevant position on the map. The next frames will tell you more about what to do next.
When the marker is placed, this dialog box will appear. Add in any information you would like to share. The title might be something like 'Fishing on the Bulkley River', 'New jobs in Tumbler Ridge,' or 'Construction near Whitecourt.' In the description section, write something about the topic. Using the icons on the left of the dialog you can add other kinds of media. Starting at the top-left icon and moving clockwise, you can add video, images, documents, and audio files. When you are done, click the submit button.
Clicking on a marker that you've created gives you the options to move, edit, or delete the marker. To move the marker you can either drag it to a new location, or type in an address in the field that says 'Enter a location.' When you press enter, the marker will move to the address if it is a valid Google Maps address.
